Follow the directions below and prove the efficacy of this new approach. We would like you to undergo either treatment A or B and report back to us how you found the intervention affected your problems. It is very important that you select ONLY ONE TREATMENT.
First we need you to complete a questionnaire BEFORE you are administered the therapy. Therefore, please complete the questionnaire battery here first.
Next you are to select either treatment A or Treatment B below. Watch the screen while keeping in mind a representative image of your trauma for 10 minutes a day, seven days in a row. When watching the screen:
Concentrate the page you selected for 25 second spells. While keeping in mind the distressing memory try and also concentrate on any feelings, bodily sensations, or smells that are associated with the memory.
Blank out the image / smell / thought / feeling.
If anything else "came up", watch the page for another 25 seconds.
Do this until either the 10 minutes are over or your anxiety is less that 10 (out of 100).
After 7 days of treatment go back to the questionnaire battery and complete it again. Remember to use the same ID as you did at pre-treatment so that we can compare any changes.
